Actress Susan Sarandon attends Machu Picchu reopening

Susan Sarandon joined hundreds of visitors yesterday on a train to the Inca citadel Machu Picchu, as it welcomed its first guests after more than two months of repairs. The American actress was among the many who travelled on a 25 mile stretch of railway reopened earlier in the week by the Transport Minister, Enrique Cornejo, after a storm in January caused damage to the railway and dangerous flooding in the area. During the opening festivities, Susan was given the title of ‘godmother’ to Machu Picchu. The celebrations included fireworks, music, dancing and a tribute ceremony ritual to the Mother Earth.
