GTMC gains members

The membership drive launched by the Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC) at February’s Business Travel & Meetings Show, is paying dividends. GTMC Chief Executive Anne Godfrey has announced that four companies have already signed up for membership of the organisation that champions the cause of travel management companies and their business traveller clients. The new members are Amersham based Giles Travel; South African owned Wings Corporate Travel, a company making inroads into the UK market, which recently acquired the financial services specialist TMC Travel Alliance; TD Travel Group with its four north of England locations and London and Berkshire based Scholefield Turnbull & Partners PLC.Godfrey said: “As part of our commitment to change, the GTMC recently announced a more open and transparent membership model and this coupled with some successful high profile lobbying on behalf of our members has heightened interest from prospective members. Without doubt the GTMC provides unrivalled opportunity to establish networks and exchange views and experiences with peers, suppliers and key industry stakeholders. Four new members in eight weeks is unprecedented in the history of the GTMC.”Giles Travel’s Chairman David Giles added: “2010 is a big year for Giles Travel and marks a new era in our continuing development - we have ambitious growth targets, which aim to see our business double in turnover in the next five years. Under Anne Godfrey’s leadership, we recognise many of our values in what we see as a revitalised Guild of Travel Management Companies – and believe membership of the GTMC is a vital element to our growth strategy. Anne’s objectives for a freshly focused Guild and her ethos in achieving this reflect our own ideals and integrate extremely well with our own objectives. We very much look forward to working together.”
