RwandAir obtain Boeing aircraft

RwandAir has signed an agreement today to receive two Boein 737-500s later this year.General Electric Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) will lease the aircraft to the airline in May and July and help with maintenance, training and human capacity development. RwandAir Chairman & Acting CEO John Mirenge underlined the need of the national carrier to have strong passenger revenue driven network with the right aircraft to serve the airline’s expansion plans. The two aircraft will operate on heavy passenger and cargo flights such as Johannesburg and Kinshasa. “GECAS has a keen interest in making this partnership work and in the near future we will see our organization involved in a number of projects at national level in Rwanda,” said General Electric’s Capital Vice President Ryan Barrett.
