Airport hotel room stays have increased by almost 60% from last year, according to bookings from HolidayExtras.com.Despite UK airport passenger numbers the website found that the rise was due to on-airport hotels, winter offers, lower room rates and partnerships. The snow disruption during December and January helped too.Now the company has launched a new online service to offer holidaymakers the chance to break up their drive home after a flight. The service will present an airport hotel add-on for the return journey and tie in with traditional airport parking packages. “We are expanding the choice of airport hotel products for our customers all the time, from price to location to upgrades. This growth in on-airport stays demonstrates that we’re giving customers what they want,” said HolidayExtras.com Head of Commercial Anthony Clarke Cowell. Travellers using the service can park at the hotel or secured car park, and transfer to the airport for check-in. On their return they go direct from the airport to the hotel, stay the night, and pick up their car in the morning for the drive home.
