Virgin Trains bookings up 166% over May Bank Holiday

Virgin Trains has announced that its overall advanced bookings for the May Bank Holiday are up 166% on last year.The most popular destinations for travellers taking advantage of the long weekend are Manchester, Glasgow and the Lake District. Friday 30 April is the most hectic with bookings up 80% and Monday 3 May bookings are up by 280%. Bookings for the Thursday have increased 50% too, suggesting that more people will be taking a four-day weekend.”The May Bank Holiday is always a popular travel period, however this long weekend is certainly set to be most welcome with people trying to enjoy the beginning of the summer,” said Virgin Trains Communications Manager Jim Rowe. It has been considered the company’s busiest May Day holiday since Virgin Trains began running its West Coast service in 1997.
