Enquiries up for North West England for May Day

A tourism website has seen in a surge in enquiries for visits to the North West in the run up to May Day bank holiday. iknow-uk has seen a 40% increase in searches for things to do and places to stay in the region compared to last year. The May Day festivals in Knutsford and Burnley were of particular interest as were long weekend breaks in the Lake District. “At the end of last year we’d seen a real drop in the number of travellers searching for breaks in the Lakes because people wrongly thought the whole of Cumbria was affected [by the floods] but these new figures show that confidence is back,” said iknow-uk Managing Director Marcus Simmons.”It’s also great to know that people are still marking May Day; it proves that good old-fashioned English traditions are still alive and well,” he added.
