Seychelles Tourism has launched a new marketing campaign promoting the ‘Best Five’ in the country. Speaking at Arabian Travel Market in Dubai (ATM) yesterday, the tourism board’s Director of Tourism and Marketing, Alain St.Ange, told Travel Daily that the key aspects of the Seychelles campaign were diversity; good weather; excellent beaches; clean seas and a friendly mix of people. “We have a great range of islands and beautiful turquoise seas. A small population means the beach remains unpollutes; it’s a very clean tropical country,” he said. “We are also not in a cyclone or Tsunami zone, making it a very safe place to visit.”St.Ange added that although the country had previously been viewed as an expensive location, there were now packages to suit every budget. “We’ve pushed the smaller establishments that weren’t being promoted by the tourism board and they did very well last year,” he said.”In the UK the three to four star resorts are particularly popular.”Meanwhile, the tourist board is making plans to promote itself to the British market. At the 2009 World Travel Market, St.Ange announced that Seychelles Tourism would be reopening its tourist office which had been closed due to financial constraints. “In June I’m hoping to bring a new high commissioner to London. He will be presented to the press then and we hope to really promote ourselves to the UK population and travel trade.” The UK is the Seychelles’ fourth biggest source market after France Italy, and Germany.
