British holidaymakers indifferent to World Cup opportunities

A third of HolidayExtras.com customers say they won’t be watching the World Cup this summer. Not only that, but there are many more destinations they would rather visit than the tournament’s host nation, South Africa.According to a survey in Britain, 43% of women respondents had no interest at all in watching the football tournament and - more surprisingly -more than a quarter of men (26%) felt the same.Out of the competing nations they would most like to holiday in, Australia came top with 41% voting to travel there, followed by Italy, then South Africa.”While many of us will be in the grip of football fever this summer, a significant proportion of UK travellers can’t wait to escape,” said HolidayExtras.com Managing Director Mike Whiting.
