The FCO downgrades its travel advice for Thailand

Efforts by the Royal Thai Embassy (RTE) and the UK branch of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to downgrade the FCO’s travel advice to Thailand have paid dividends. As TDUK went to press, the FCO revised its travel advice to the following: “This advice has been reviewed and reissued with amendments to the Summary and the Terrorism and Security section. “The overall level of the advice has changed; we no longer advise against all but essential travel to the whole country. We advise against all travel to specific parts of Thailand. We advise against all but essential travel to other specific parts of Thailand, including Bangkok.”Addressing the UK travel trade, the TAT said it hoped customers still wished to travel to Thailand and spend more time in destinations other than Bangkok.”Your continued support, as always, is very much appreciated,” said Consumer Marketing & PR Manager, UK & Ireland, Joanna Cooke.”There is no doubt that this news brings a great sigh of relief and I hope that business will return to normal as quickly as possible for you all.”For more information visit http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travel-and-living-abroad/travel-advice-by-country/asia-oceania/thailandAdvice
