Jordan targets UK

Jordan’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities reaffirmed the country’s commitment to UK tourists at Arabian Travel Market last week. “The UK is the biggest market in Europe,” Minister Maha Khatib told Travel Daily. At the beginning of 2009 we witnessed a drop due to the global crisis and the problems in the British economy. We noticed in the last quarter that the numbers are recovering.” Jordan has permanent representation in Britain and will continue to campaign to the travel trade throughout this year. “Many hotels here are under construction and we have seen a rise in international chains,” explained Khatib. “In addition to these hotels that have launched already we have beautiful new properties in Aqaba, the red sea and the Dead Sea, which is popular as the biggest natural spa in the world.”
