ITB Asia has received 900 applications from travel industry buyers, although it only has space for 700. It has limited the amount of hosted buyers so the appointment schedule can be completed in advance. “The response has been beyond our expectations,” said ITB Asia Executive Director Nino Grukettke. “Applicants are diverse, from the MICE, leisure and corporate sectors and from a wide range of geographic markets.” The event takes place in Singapore from 20-22 October. Show organiser Messe Berlin (Singapore) has estimated half the buyer applications are from leisure travel buyers, 44% from MICE buyers and 6% from corporate buyers. Interest has been highest from the United States, UK, Italy, Germany, Australia and India. The 900 buyers responded to an initial batch of invitations that went out in April. A second went out in mid-May and another is scheduled for July.
