Tour operator Gap Adventures has teamed up with safety travel product and services company World Nomads to send budding filmmakers to the Ecuadorian Amazon. The winning film buff will be given the opportunity to travel with Gap Adventures Founder Bruce Poon Tip and documentary producer Trent O’Donnell to explore the Amazonian jungle and stay with the Quichua family to see how tourism can impact local communities. The trip will visit two projects – a family-run tourism initiative which was developed by Gap Adventures and a local Quichua primary school. To enter, applicants must submit a three-minute documentary based on the theme ‘Local Encounters’. Applications close on 1 August 2010 and more information can be found at www.gapadventures.com/travel-scholarship.
