Harrah’s to develop trade resources

Last week Travel Daily reported that Harrah’s Entertainment was looking to expand its leisure and hotel brand through the UK’s travel trade. UK Sales Director Alissa Cough told TD what resources it plans to develop and why it decided to expand in this market. “We have launched a promotion partnering with companies who operate in Las Vegas such as Virgin Atlantic for people who want to go through training,” she explained. “In addition we will attend trade events and educate our agents as much as we can.” She added that agents would not have to change their procedures to work with the company. “A lot of agents work with wholesalers, which we think is great. We don’t want to change how they book, just keep them informed,” revealed Cough. “We want the UK travel trade to drive business, have a good understanding of the collection and continue to book.” Harrah’s has created offices around its key growth markets after it realized there was a lot of opportunity in international business. “The UK is one of the biggest markets in the US after domestic tourism and Canada so we wanted agents to have a point of contact on the same time zone, get them help quickly and help them trade boost sales,” said Cough. The group recently acquired Planet Hollywood and Planet Hollywood Tower, as well as renovating rooms in the Flamingo and Paris. “The idea is that our properties are constantly being updated and kept to the highest standard,” added Cough. To mark the launch of the new acquisition, Planet Hollywood Towers has launched a summer incentive by offering agents 15% commission on all reservations booked at PH Towers before 30 June, for all travel dates.
