VisitEngland has launched an online toolkit to help small and medium sized businesses to become more sustainable. The Green Start toolkit is free to all tourism businesses interested in saving money, becoming environment-friendly and having a positive impact on the local community. “It’s important for the industry to realise that becoming sustainable has multiple benefits, not least improving the bottom line,” explained VisitEngland Chief Executive James Berresford. “The future success of the tourism industry must be underpinned by a sustainable approach, both in terms of protecting the natural environment that makes England such an attractive destination, and ensuring long-term economic success.” Green Start is an online and DVD-based initiative that runs in line with class room training such as Green Edge Training. Additionally, businesses can learn use a marketing and communications tool, Keep It Real, to provide tips on marketing their green credentials.
