Madeira footpaths reopen

Madeira’s smaller villages and footpaths in Funchal have finally reopened following repairs from February’s floods. Although the main area of capital Funchal reopened two weeks after the torrential rain, walking routes and the island’s network of water channels have now opened again for guests. Walking holiday company Inntravel has reported it will re-introduce its Waterways and Flowers programme now the area is accessible.”We can report that, thanks to the hard work of whole communities, the region has been regenerated and the scarring caused by the landslides has been dramatically reduced,” explained Inntravel Regional Manager for Portugal Alison Hall. “Having re-walked the route and re-written our walking notes - as well as having now added two beautiful new circuits – we know our customers will love it as much as they ever did.”
