Blackpool shows regeneration through online map

Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Economic Development Company (BFWEDC) has launched an interactive map online. The google map, which can be viewed at http://bit.ly/changingbpool, was designed as part of the company’s ‘A Changing Blackpool’ campaign. Originally launched as a photo blog, the idea was to show the world how the town has been regenerated. The new map also includes aerial images and photography from Blackpool residents taken during the recent celebrations for Blackpool FC’s promotion . “The Changing Blackpool Google map is incredibly simple but surprisingly effective way to explore the changes which have taken place and provides context as well as showing exactly where in the town the improvements have been made,” said the Chair of the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Economic Development Company Mike Appleton.”It’s easy and fun to explore but the real beauty is that it will grow over time. In the same way the Flickr group will become an archive library of all the photographs, the map will chronicle the changes, allowing residents and visitors to look back and see how far we’ve come.”
