LAN Airlines has announced it will start a Lima to Easter Island service next year. Flights will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays on the new route, which will begin on 5 January 2011 and will cut the current journey time by three hours. “LAN Airlines and its affiliates are offering passengers access to the most complete and integrated tourism network in South America, providing them with the opportunity and flexibility to explore more than one of the region’s wonders,” explained LAN Airlines Passenger Division CEO Armando Valdivieso. Additionally, four weekly nonstop flights from Lima to Iguazu in Argentina will be added to the schedule once approved. “With the addition of these new routes, visitors from around the world will have more options to make connections on LAN and its affiliates that will help support the region’s tourism development, “added Valdivieso.
