Hilton Worldwide has announced it will open a new Waldorf Astoria hotel in West London. The group signed an agreement with the Ability Group to open the Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts hotel in the Grade I- listed Syon Park. The property looks out across the River Thames onto Kew Gardens and is seven miles from Knightsbridge and Heathrow Airport. “We are delighted to announce the addition of London Syon Park, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel to our European portfolio, bringing us to five Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts properties now open or under development across the continent,” said Hilton Senior Vice President Development, Europe and Africa Patrick Fitzgibbon. “London is a key destination in our global plans, and this hotel will offer a luxury parkland retreat only moments from the centre of one of the world’s great cities.” Features of the hotel include a butterfly house in the lobby, an ice-cream parlour and possibly treatments from celebrity surgeon Alex Karidis. The 137-room hotel, which is due to open in November 2010, will have MICE facilities and a bespoke spa, as well as several restaurants and bars. Guests will have use of the park grounds and activities including trout fishing. Syon House is the London home of the Duke of Northumberland.
