MSC boosts technology offering

MSC Cruises has signed a three-year agreement with Telecom Italia to provide GSM, GPRS and CDMA connectivity across its fleet. Under the deal, guests onboard any MSC ship will be able to receive and send voicemail, SMS and data through their phone while at open sea. “Maritime GSM services from Telecom Italia will become an essential part to the company’s electronic communications inventory, particularly with the growing market demand for reliable and fast means of communication,” said MSC Cruises Technical Department General Manager Emilio La Scala. The cruise line said it will expand the services to crew and passengers ‘in the near future’.
