Number of weddings abroad increases

Almost half engaged couples want to get married abroad to avoid distant relatives and unwanted acquaintances, according to new research by Sandals Resorts. The survey showed 47% of the 2000 respondents getting married this year said they would go away for better weather, a cheaper deal or to escape family pressures. “We have seen a year-on-year increase in the number of weddings we’ve organised abroad this year for obvious reasons such as better weather,” said Sandals Wedding Supervisor Amanda Lucas. “However, alleviating stress and avoiding family issues seem to be a common reason for our guests marrying abroad.”
