European private jet flights for July have increased 6.35% compared to last year. Air traffic control data from Eurocontrol has shown a growing trend for forward planning, with the average lead time for bookings between February and July 2010 standing at 12.4 days. This compares to a four-day booking lead time for the second half of 2009. “It’s encouraging to see indications of confidence returning to the private jet charter market,” said PrivateFly’s CEO Adam Twidell. “In recovery, flexibility and time-saving will still remain key decision drivers for private jet customers in both the corporate and leisure markets, but there is a much stronger demand for cost-consciousness.” PrivateFly has itself seen a 200% increase in bookings for the first half of 2010 and has attributed the growth in the private charter to increasing demand from both business and leisure customers. Prices have also been made cheaper as the market becomes more competitive.
