A new airplane seat offering only 23 inches of space is set to be unveiled at the Aircraft Interiors Expos Americas next week. The saddle-style seats, named SkyRider, would be used on short-haul flights and could appeal to low-cost airlines, according to a report by USA Today. Aviointeriors Group Director General Dominique Menoud said the seats could be used for its own seating class, such as business or coach. Fares would be lower but as a result, more passengers would be able to fit onboard. “We feel extremely confident that this concept will … have great appeal to airlines for economic purposes,” he said. The seats have not yet been approved for use.
