Bookings up for Acacia Africa

Tour operator Acacia Africa has witnessed a ‘positive’ year in bookings this year as the destination becomes cheaper for Brits. “The northern region has benefited from cheap flights to Egypt and price hikes in the Eurozone,” the operator’s Marketing Director Heath Ashcroft told Travel Daily. “Outside of that, we are aware that ‘budget-led’ tour operators, such as ourselves, have had a broader appeal during the recession.” In addition, Ashcroft revealed that forward bookings were up compared to last year and he hopes the early release of the new brochure will generate more. “In terms of bookings in general, there was certainly a move to shorter tours in the recession, but with the economy back on track, add-ons are now very much a part the booking mix,” he added. “Now is the time for agents to push for that extra commission whether it’s a beach, dive or city based trip.”
