British Airways is set to launch direct flights from London to Buenos Aires from March 2011. Following the announcement, the Minister of Tourism of Argentina Enrique Meyer announced said the service would be extremely beneficial to the country. “2011 will be the year of Argentina Tourism in Argentina will grow at a rate of 10% annually until 2020, compared with the world average of 4.1%,” he explained. Explaining the Federal Plan for Sustainable Tourism, the Minister added that there would be a significant investment in tourism infrastructure and training. “Argentina has the best prepared and best educated population in South America. This translates into superior service and greater customer satisfaction.” Meanwhile BA Argentina Commercial Manager Florencia Scardaccione said demand for the route was expected to continue.
