Continental Airlines has launched a new inflight menu for economy class passengers. From 12 October, the new meals and snacks will be offered on the majority of US/Canada flights and certain Latin America routes. New options include an Asian-style noodle salad, grilled chicken spinach salad, Angus cheeseburger and Jimmy Dean sausage, egg and cheese sandwich. Lighter options include snack boxes; a cheese and fruit plate; a la carte snacks and chocolate-covered Eli’s Cheesecake on a stick. “The new menu is a direct result of feedback from our customers, who told us they wanted more food choices on our flights,” said Continental’s Vice President of Food Services Sandra Pineau-Boddison,. “With that in mind, Continental researched trends in the restaurant industry and tested and tasted a broad range of possible menu items in order to provide dining options that reflect today’s customer preferences.” The menu will replace the airline’s complimentary meals and snacks for economy class. However, this service will continue to be offered on all intercontinental flights; some international routes and long-haul domestic routes more than six and a half hours long.
