FCO warns of more flight disruption

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has warned that travellers could face more flight disruption throughout October as strikes break out across Europe. Passengers faced cancellations and delays to and from Spain yesterday due to a workers’ strike, but FCO revealed that industrial action is also planned in Italy and Greece. As well as a 24-hour public transport strike tomorrow, Italy will also face four-hour strikes by Meridiana Fly pilots on 14 and 25 October. In addition, Alitalia staff plan to strike on 25 October to 5 November. Meanwhile in Greece, a 24-hour strike on 7 October has been announced by public sector workers. “Travellers should expect delays and there is a possibility of some flights being cancelled,” said the FCO. “Passengers are advised to contact the airline they are travelling with for further information.”
