A new range of rail-inclusive ski packages to resorts in France, Switzerland and Italy will be launched on Monday. The new rail journeys have been created by 16 tour operators, Rail Europe, Eurostar, ABTOF and ABTOI and will be available through Snow Carbon and agents. They will offer lower fares, booking dates until the end of the season, fixed fares and transfers from the station to resort. “Skiers are increasingly looking for rail travel to ski resorts,” explained Zenith Holidays Director Stuart McLeod, which will sell the packages. “They want a relaxing and environmentally friendly journey and they appreciate the luxury of being able to pack their bags and skis without having to worry about the airlines’ excess luggage charges.” Founder Daniel Elkan said the option would create a more sustainable form of travel. “This new ability to book a wider range of rail journeys as part of a package from leading operators makes things much easier for travel agents with clients wanting to travel this way,” he added.
