Virgin launches Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship

Virgin Holidays has announced its plan to launch a Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship in the Caribbean in conjunction with Virgin Unite - the non-profit foundation of the Virgin Group. Set to open in the first half of 2011, the Centre will support aspiring entrepreneurs aged 18 – 35 years old in establishing and growing businesses in the Caribbean and contribute to the long-term economic prosperity of the region. The Centre will offer practical business skills, access to coaches, mentors and financing opportunities and will initially prioritise supporting tourism related enterprises with strong financial, social and environmental credentials. “Virgin Holidays has been committed to responsible tourism principles for a number of years and central to that is giving something back to the destinations that support our business,” said Virgin holidays Managing Director Amanda Willis. “This Centre is evidence of our commitment to the long-term economic sustainability of one our most important markets. We will support the Caribbean’s primary industry and contribute to the maintenance of its cultural identity by encouraging the creation and growth of indigenous businesses.”
