Cruise calls to Saint Lucia have been stopped as the island recovers from the effects of Hurricane Tomas. The Saint Lucia Tourist Board and Saint Lucia Hotel & Tourism Association said ships will be able to visit again from 7 November. Meanwhile on land, the Category 1 storm and subsequent flooding has caused damage to some hotels, as well as other buildings and major roads. “A comprehensive clean up exercise and restoration of critical infrastructure is underway and it is estimated that the country and its vital tourism industry will be back to normalcy by Friday November 12,” read the tourist board and association’s statement. The Government of Saint Lucia is said to be helping visitors get home with airport transfers and airlift.
