Edinburgh Airport increases winter flight capacity by 6.6%

Scotland’s busiest airport will support a 6.6 percent rise in seat allocations this winter against last year’s provision. Edinburgh International Airport will oversee 4.6 million seats to more than 100 destinations during its winter schedule season. Winter highlights include the largest selection of flights from Scotland to Scandinavia and Germany and the largest selection of direct flights from the capital to many of Europe’s premier winter sports destinations. “This is a real indicator of growth and success of Edinburgh Airport and shows the reach of Scotland’s capital,” said Kevin Brown, managing director of Edinburgh Airport. “We are Scotland’s main airport, however our aspirations are to be a major force on the European stage. The range of flights, destinations and carriers listed in the Flight Guide show that we already travelling towards that.” Edinburgh Airport was the only top ten UK airport to show growth in passengers in 2009. 2010 saw the airport have its busiest month ever in July and since then it has recorded year on year growth each month.
