VisitCornwall has insisted that the majority of the county’s accommodation, transportation and attractions have remained open despite the recent flooding. Rail and road access has been recovered except services between Par and Newquay due to a landslip. A replacement bus service is currently operating on this route. In addition, flights to and from Newquay Cornwall Airport are running as usual. Meanwhile, the association said that the floods have mainly affected towns in the middle of the county and advised visitors to contact accommodation providers in Mid Cornwall. “Whilst it is appreciated that the impact has been significant it should be stressed that the flooding was very localised and although small sections of Mid Cornwall are affected, the surrounding areas along with other parts of the county, remain unaffected and open for business as usual,” said Malcolm Bell, head of VisitCornwall.
