Thousands of skiers risk huge medical bills by not getting adequate travel insurance, says FCO

Nearly a third of people in the UK do not take out travel insurance for their winter sports holidays, according to new figures. As British holidaymakers prepare to head for the slopes this Christmas, new research from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) reveals that 31 percent of Brits do not take out an insurance policy before their trip. “If you are injured whilst skiing or snowboarding, you could face a bill for thousands of pounds if you’re not properly insured,” a statement from the FCO read. “A helicopter ambulance and medical repatriation could cost you many times the price of your holiday.””It’s deeply worrying that so many Brits are still not buying travel insurance before they go on a skiing holiday,” said Stuart Bensusan of travel insurance specialist EssentialTravel.co.uk. “Skiers and snowboarders who don’t take out insurance run the risk of huge medical bills, in some cases reaching
