Estonia to adopt Euro

Travel agents have been reminded that Estonia will adopt the Euro from 1 January 2011. The country’s capital, Tallinn, will also host more than 7,000 events to celebrate the city’s European Capital of Culture status throughout the year. Festivities will begin with an opening ceremony, music festival and fireworks on New Years Eve. “Simultaneously with the start of Capital of Culture we will also celebrate the introduction of the European joint currency, the Euro,” said Jaanus Mutli, from the Tallinn 2011 Foundation. “The city’s hotels and event organisers have responded admirably to the challenges presented by being the cultural capital with high quality hotel packages and some world class events.”
