Cities bump hotel rates for Christmas while Turkey drops

Hotels in the UK, Germany and Scandinavia have seen some of the largest increases in overnight prices as tourists flock to Christmas markets and shopping districts. According to trivago, Brussels’ hotels have reported the biggest growth in hotel prices at 27 percent, while London recorded a 17 percent increase in rates and Oslo posted a 16 percent growth in prices. Vienna, Lisbon and Dublin have also seen double-digit percentage increases in hotel rates. Meanwhile, in Eastern Europe, hotel rates in Istanbul dropped 22 percent, with properties in Prague, Krakow, Budapest and Bucharest showing more modest decreases (4 percent, 1 percent, 2 percent and 6 percent respectively).
