easyJet launches new route to Amman in Jordan

Budget carrier easyJet has announced it has launched its first route to Jordan. The low cost airline will start the direct service to Amman from London Gatwick in March next year. “Jordan has a rich history and a diverse range of attractions, including the ancient city of Petra,” said Carolyn McCall, easyJet chief executive. “We have been discussing direct flight options to Jordan with Easyjet for a number of years now and are delighted with the news of the launch of this new route to Amman and offer our full support to the airline,” added David Symes, Jordan Tourism Board country manager for UK and Ireland. “The new route will open up the options for those who are happy to travel independently or semi-independently, utilising the services of a Jordan inbound operator or booking direct with hotels. The increased frequency, capacity and more flexible pricing is great news for tourism to Jordan and should work to increase awareness of the destination as well as grow the independent traveller market, which already makes up approximately 50 percent of UK visitors.”
