North Queensland open for business, says tourism chief

The CEO of Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ), Rob Giason, has said that the area is still open for business despite the floods that have affected other parts of the Australian state. “There are no local implications from the flooding 1,000km to the south of Cairns. Cairns airport is in full operation and all 650 local tours are operating daily,” said Giason.  To provide visitors with accurate weather information, TTNQ has linked eight live webcams to its website, www.cairnsgreatbarrierreef.org.au to show conditions in Cairns, Mission Beach, Green Island, the Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest and Atherton Tablelands.
