Benidorm named future sustainability model

Benidorm has been identified as a future model of sustainable tourism in Thomson’s latest report. The survey, carried out by The Future Laboratory, said the destination’s large concentration of tourists in one place allowed for minimal environmental impact and better resource management. In addition, if holidaymakers could be encouraged to become eco-friendly, it would have more effect than a small resort. The report suggested that ‘spread out, low visibility’ resorts were not as environmentally friendly due to the space they take up.
