Amadeus and the Spanish Government have signed a sustainability agreement to implement tourism projects in developing countries. The partnership will create technology, tourism and travel projects in disadvantaged areas to generate jobs and ‘social cohesion’. Its first activities will focus on training, analysis and promotion of tourism businesses in Haiti and Jordan. In addition, the pair will offer technology services and monitor information in regard to regular air travel. “It is a great pleasure for us to cooperate with the General Secretariat for Tourism, as we not only share the same vision of solidarity but also believe that tourism should work in favour of all those developing regions that need to grow socially and economically,” said Luis Maroto, president and CEO of Amadeus group. The activities will run in conjunction with Amadeus’ other CSR projects, which provide small hotels in Central America and South Africa with GDS coverage and its computer donation programme.
