More than 14 million passengers were carried by SWISS last year, breaking the carrier’s previous passenger record. A total of 14,168,718 flew with SWISS, an increase of 2.8 percent compared to the previous year. The seat load factor for the year increased from 80.1 percent to was 82.3 percent, a company record for capacity utilisation in one year. The number of flights operated also grew by 3.6 percent to 141,405. “In December seat load factor and the number of passengers carried remained at the level of the previous year despite numerous flight cancellations due to adverse winter weather,” a company statement read. “In the last month of 2010 a total of 1,126,551 passengers flew with SWISS. The seat load factor for the month was 80.8 percent.” In Europe, capacity in terms of available seat kilometres was 3.4 percent higher on a year-on-year comparison, while revenue seat kilometres increased by 2.6 percent.
