Hoteliers could increase profits by working smarter, says leading UK tourism expert

Hoteliers could increase their profits by up to ten percent if they adopted smarter working practices, according to a leading UK tourism expert. Marcus Simmons, managing director of iknow-uk, an independent tourism and accommodation directory, is advising hospitality businesses to look at ways they can work more closely together. “2010 was a difficult year - we all know that,” explained Simmons. “But it seems that many of our customers who own hotels or B&Bs have decided to respond to the current situation and work together to find a mutually beneficial solution. We’ve heard of lots of examples where local businesses are joining together to offer customers that little something extra that sets them apart from the competition - so B&Bs teeming with restaurants in their area, for example, to offer a great value deal for residents, or hoteliers working with attractions to drive customers to both parties.”
