Business travel is dominated by women, a new demographic survey by the Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC) has claimed. The survey, conducted across the members of the GTMC, a professional industry body for travel management companies, found that 67 percent of the GTMC members’ workforce is female and 64 percent of senior management teams are also women. “The GTMC 2010 demographic survey indicates that a typical business travel employee is female, aged between 35 and 44, works full time, has been with the same company for at least five years and has a very good chance of being in a management position,” said GTMC chief executive Anne Godfrey. The survey also showed that business travel continues to attract employees who remain loyal to their employer, with the most popular age range, at 34 percent, aged between 35 and 44. An impressive 16 percent of employees had chalked up between six and ten years service, while 14 percent were up for long service awards with more than 15 years service.
