Qatar Airways continues international expansion with three new routes

Qatar Airways has announced that it will expand its network later this year with three new routes. The airline has targeted ‘underserved’ India, Norway and Bulgaria for its expansion in the second half of 2011. Daily flights will operate to Kolkata (Calcutta) from 27 July, while it will fly four times a week to Sofia from 14 September. Services to Oslo will then commence on 5 October. In addition, capacity will increase on Qatar Airway’s services to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Manchester and Dar Es Salaam. “Yet again, we are demonstrating our strategic focus to serve key business and leisure cities around the world, as well as underserved markets with new direct flights and increased capacity,” explained Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways at an ITB press conference.  “Today’s announcement of new services to Kolkata, Oslo and Sofia reflects our commitment to connect diverse global cities via our Doha hub.”
