Scotland believes it is on the brink of a surge of US tourists following high response from a radio competition. Bespoke tour company Fish Out of Water sponsored the competition on American radio and said it was unprepared for the response. It now hopes the interest will turn into bookings. “While the station had predicted around 1500 entries at best, it was shocked by the deluge of 7000 entries – from every state throughout America,” said Ann Medlock, founder of Fish Out of Water. “Already we’re experiencing an upsurge in enquiries from America requesting that we arrange exclusive itineraries on behalf of individuals, families and corporates.” The competition was broadcast on NPR’s The Thistle & Shamrock radio programme, which plays music from Celtic roots.
