Royal Caribbean reveals agent training revamp

Royal Caribbean International has revealed that it is to revamp its travel agent training programme next month. The cruise line’s new e-training is expected to shorten modules and show virtual tours of the Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Azamara ships. It will be launched on 12 April. “With the new ‘Cruising for Excellence Online’ we’re offering a ship experience with a virtual environment that replicates the ship’s environments. It’s the closest you’ll come to being on our ships without needing to be onboard,” said Michelle Russell, UK & Ireland training manager at RCI. She said these could be used to show customers what to expect, as well as boost ship knowledge. In addition, there will be a new travel agent status known as ‘Admiral’ to show the travel agents who have the most points. “We’ve made online training more suited to you,” added Russell. “You now have the option to specialise in one or two, or still all the three brands. We’ve divided the content and made it shorter. In some modules that you’ll complete, it will take just 15 minutes.”
