Rhodes hotels open early off back of increased interest

Hotels in Rhodes have opened early this season after the destination saw a 10 percent increase in bookings. The tourism season usually begins in May but has been moved forward to early April so hotels can take advantage of the consumer’s sway towards cheaper short-haul destinations. “The recent developments in other Mediterranean countries are making people rediscover old favourites,” explained Tom Panagos from Rhodes Tourism. “Although Rhodes is a well-established   destination for the UK market, our product is anything but tired. Over the last few years we are having a number of new hotel openings on the island and extensive refurbishment projects.”
