Thomson Al Fresco has revealed that it will look to work with more trade partners in the future. Nick Riggs, managing director of the luxury mobile home tour operator told Travel Daily that the company planned to increase its product and continue to build trade relationships since it was bought by Homair Vacances from TUI. “Over the past three or four years [under TUI] we have been maximising distribution with static capacity, so with a new buyer it’s given us an injection of new property,” said Riggs. “Our main new destination is Corsica, which isn’t always easy to tour to but Homair has a campsite there so we have a chance to create high-end product.” He added that bookings were up year-on-year and the company was confident it would see an upswing from defected Middle East bound travellers. In addition, Riggs attributed the short haul destinations, tailor-made approach and flexible arrival dates to its rise in sales. Meanwhile, Thomson Al Fresco has added a live chat function to its travel agent portal so agents can contact the tour operator online directly, plus build their knowledge of the company. “VChat leads directly to our call centre,” explained Riggs. “It’s good for new agents particularly because if you don’t know that much about the product you could get stuck while using the portal. So now through VChat, agents can sort out problems and ask questions straight away as if it were a call centre.
