Economic Secretary replaces Hammond at ABTA Travel Matters

ABTA has announced that Justine Greening, economic secretary to the Treasury will join the panel of speakers at this year’s Travel Matters conference. Greening will be the first Treasury Minister to speak in public about APD since the Budget and replaces transport minister Philip Hammond. She will join Keith Williams from British Airways and Johan Lundgren from TUI at the half day conference on Tuesday. “This is a time of great importance for the travel industry. ABTA has been carrying the industry’s case to the Government on a number of important issues, but there is much to be discussed,” said Mark Tanzer, chief executive of ABTA. “In recent months the Government has unveiled its proposals on areas including consumer financial protection for holidays, the future of travel and tourism and aviation taxation. This event is an excellent opportunity for the industry to come together to present its position to decision-makers in Westminster.”
