On the Beach has revealed that its top selling destinations for the upcoming Easter break are European based. The online travel agent has seen a 90 percent rise in bookings to the Algarve for the Easter period and sales to Malta are up 22 percent compared to last year. The OTA has attributed the increase to a reduction in hotel and airline prices in the Portuguese destination, which have fallen 28 percent. In addition, holidays over the Royal Wedding week have been popular, with prices down 40 percent compared to last year. “Our latest sales figures show that British holidaymakers are keen to take advantage of the extra bank holidays given this year and many will be watching the happy couple tie the knot while relaxing in a sunny beach destination,” said Alistair Daly, marketing director at On the Beach. Malaga, Turkey and Rhodes have also been top selling destinations over the Easter and Royal Wedding period.
