Egypt counts cost of uprising

Egypt’s tourism minister has revealed he expects the country’s tourism sector to su?er a 25 percent fall in revenues in 2011 as a direct result of the recent popular uprising. Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour said he expected the sector to return to its 2010 levels in September.”Our revenues of 2010 were $12.5bn, we should be 25 percent below that in 2011,” Nour told Reuters. “Until today, we have not recouped the normal pace of tourism in Egypt. That was expected and it is understandable. But we expect to be back on track by September.”
