Silversea to rename Prince Albert II and hints at expansion

Silversea Cruises has announced that it is to rename its expedition ship Prince Albert II to Silver Explorer. The change in name will occur later this year when the ship enters dry dock before the summer season. “Our expansion into adventure travel has turned out quite successful and we have to prepare for the possibility of adding more ships,” said Manfredi Lefebvre, chairman of Silversea. “To reinforce the Silversea luxury brand image for the expedition segment, we decided to change the name of our first expedition ship to Silver Explorer and anticipate any future expedition ships will bear similar names that evoke a sense of luxurious adventure.” The cruise line said it would continue to honour Prince Albert II through supporting the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation in its fundraising events and projects.
